Tex Schramm was born on June 2, 1920. He grew up in San Gabriel, California, and graduated from Alhambra High School. He later attended the University of Texas at Austin. Schramm began his career in sports journalism and later moved into sports management. He was the first president and general manager of the Dallas Cowboys, serving from 1960 to 1989. He played a major role in developing the Super Bowl, instant replay, and the use of computer technology in football operations. Schramm helped shape many aspects of the NFL’s modern structure. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1991. His early life in San Gabriel was where his interest in football and media began. His time in the city influenced the foundation of his career.
